If I Had A Love Story - Chapter 1

Life surely doesn't have the best of the scripts in store for you. So I decided that I would don the script writer's hat for myself and write my own story with elements, God has missed to add in his version of my script.

Disclaimer: The characters appearing in this story are purely fictional though some of the names were borrowed. Any coincidence to people either living or dead is purely coincidental.

Chapter 1
I woke up as the first rays of sunlight fell on my face. It was my first day of college. I could feel a pang and a rush of mixed emotions within me. I have had trouble adjusting to newer environments since school. Being an introvert made that even harder. Yeah, I enjoyed being with myself rather than other people. I didn't know much about my roommates then but I knew that I had to wake them up. Our classes were from 10:30 AM on our first day. I couldn't risk getting lost in the humongous campus and so I chose to stick with my roomies. Ajith seemed to be soft-spoken and barely talked that day. Nitish was little bit talkative but chose to hang out with other people from our class more. Sri was the typical chatterbox and I used to wonder where he gets his almost infinite source of energy from. Little did I knew that day, we would eventually grew up to being the closest buddies and share some of our graver secrets.

I took my seat in the second row as the only available seats in the class were the second and third rows. I wasn't able to go and sit near girls too as this was the first time I was into co-education and felt a bit scared too. Though sitting near one of them was a fantasy at that time, I was more dreaded by the consequences that were expected to happen after my brave and glorious endeavour. Throughout the day, I never turned my face except for a few times, shifting my mind to the dove that had built its nest near the window as the class got boring.

Back in the hostel, the boys were all in one room. We were discussing about the usual thing about girls (actually I was just listening). I heard numerous names from each end and had great trouble following them, let alone remember them. I was wondering how they did came to know the names of girls in our class (Yeah, I was a pretty slow learner, but managed to catch up quick later and learnt the tricks of the trade). I had nothing to contribute to the discussion and kept mum. They were all busy formulating plans, exchanging ideas and experiences about impressing girls. This get together was actually to ensure that nobody criss crosses into the route of others (We didn't want another Kutty or Kadhal Desam movie running inside our college). I had nothing to contribute and so sneaked back into my room and fell into a deep slumber.

I was travelling in a bus to Vandalur. I was deeply immersed in my phone with my earphones on. I was enjoying "Pookal Pookum" song from Madrasapattinam till someone interrupted me. I found a girl standing beside me. She wore a pink tops and a matching dupatta, her hair was neatly done leaving a single strand of hair falling over her face. Her glistening face glowed brightly and I was like blinded by the sun rays itself. Her eyes sparkled, spreading fiery warmth around me. She had me there completely mesmerised for moments. Soon I was brought back to reality as she shrugged me.

"Excuse me, Can I sit here? Is anybody coming?"  She asked me.
I was still recovering from the shrug, she had given me.
I blabbered "No, nobody's coming" and gave her a seat.
I was pretty uncomfortable and she had sensed that.
"Hi!”  She greeted me extending her hands for a handshake.
I replied with a half eaten hi and shook her hands reluctantly.

It was the first time that I had actually made physical contact with a girl of my age. I was disturbed by a sudden rush of adrenaline and it almost appeared that I would have an anxiety attack. I could see her efforts to comfort me going in vain as I started breathing heavily. She reached for her bag and gave her water bottle to me. I felt better after drinking water.

"Are you ok?" She asked me brushing that ravishing strand of hair on her face aside.
I sensed something in her voice. It seemed laced with care and affection.
I replied that I was ok and was starting to feel comfortable.
"I'm ..."

A loud thudding noise woke me up. I saw my roommates standing in front of me giggling. I was embarrassed when I came to know that I was sleep talking (Glad that I had woken up, they were about to record a video).

I got up ignoring their giggles and started getting ready for my classes. Her face kept lingering in my mind and it was after a while that I managed to dismiss her from my mind.
