Beyond the Twilight

Image
Beyond the Twilight The wind was starting to go crazy, making the door creak. The eyes of the full moon gazed through the open windows of Dr.Lucius’s laboratory. Dr.Lucius could sense the change in air as it became thinner and colder suddenly. The creaking door stopped. A dark shadowy figure stood in the entrance. Dr.Lucius did not turn back but was focused on his experiment. A computer beside him was running calculations that seemed like analysis of a lab test. “You are back so soon,” he said, still focused on the microscope. The figure then moved swiftly and silently, in a most inhumane way. The next moment, it was standing beside Dr.Lucius, bending down to see his work. Dr.Lucius startled dropping his pen and almost fell off his chair. “Damn it, Raphael” The doctor now saw his face at close for the first time. His crimson eyes, jet black hair and a face that bore the timeless handsomeness of a forgotten era. His lips, tinged with a hint of sardonic amusement, parted...

The Evil Spirits of the Paddy Field

Image
The Evil Spirits of the Paddy Field I was meeting up with some good old friends after a long time on a Sunday night. The party hall was well lit but the air conditioning was making me feel a bit colder. I was looking at the menu unable to decide for a long time that one of them just took the menu from me and ordered a random dish for me. A dish named “Makhni Paneer Biriyani” came to my table. I carefully examined it which apparently looked much like normal biriyani with paneer pieces put into it. I glared at my friend as he picked up a few mouthfuls from my plate, grinning. We then started chatting and having our dinner. We discussed about old times and new times. Then we moved to random topics. “Has someone encountered a ghost?” Raj asked with the noodles he was eating dangling from his mouth. “I have been living with one for two years” Deepak joked. We all chuckled. “Supernatural presence is real, indeed!” Dev cut in, speaking for the first time since we arrived. There was ...

The Lost Diary

Image
The Lost Diary It was late into the night. I finished dinner with some of my old friends, I met at the book fair that day and bid them goodbye. The weather was too chill and I was wondering if I should have brought a jerkin. I rubbed my hands and locked my arms to keep myself warm for a while. I walked to the bus stand and settled there hoping a 23C would stop by. There was nobody around except for some crickets chirping and I was getting eerie feelings that somebody was watching me. I ignored it and pulled up a game on my mobile. A sudden breeze hit me and took my attention to a book lying on the edge of the platform. The wind swiftly turned the pages of the book. I got up and picked the book. I felt a shiver down my spine as I lifted the book. It was a diary, rather an old one - leather bound with “2016” embossed on it. The pages were yellow tinged and wizened. Under the dim streetlight and cloudy moonless night, I wasn’t able to read what’s written in it. I was interrupted by ...

As creepier as it gets

A rustling sound was heard from a bush near him. There was almost nothing visible since the forest was too dense and Alex had to use a flash light to find his way in the forest. Gathering enough guts, Alex took a step forward towards the bush holding a flash light in his right hand and sharp stick that he had broken from a tree a while ago in his right hand. The rustling sound becomes louder and louder as he moved closer to the bush. Suddenly he heard a cry a few yards away. Distracted by that cry, Alex started running towards it. As he took a few steps towards the cry, it stopped and a nasty sense of creepiness entered his mind. He turned back and shone his flashlight behind only to see an inhuman and fiendish figure that he wished he hadn’t seen. It was a vampire, a real one almost eight feet tall with a grumpy face, two teeth sticking out of its mouth and dressed in the traditional vampire fashion. Horrified, Alex ran fast as he could before he crashed into some...
