If I Had A Love Story - Chapter 24

Chapter 24 The dark skies loomed over the well-lit Bangalore city. Our train back to Chennai was leaving in two hours. The railway station was bustling with people, each with their own story and destination. The weather did not seem to affect the people there at all. We carried our bags onto the first platform to catch a train that was not expected until after two hours. Diya pulled me back before I could enter the platform. She took me to a food store at the front and bought both of us a cheese macaroni pizza. "What’s the event?" I asked her while still munching on my slice of pizza. "My mom and dad are coming to pick me up now." "What!?" I choked on the last of my pizza slices. She hit my head hard and gave me water to drink. “You've got to stop giving me surprises when I am eating!" I gulped down half a bottle of water. "Is that why you were worried and nervous all these times?" I asked her. She nodded after a while. ...

If I Had A Love Story - Chapter 23

Chapter 23 It was almost midnight. I was sound asleep, wrapped under a blanket and tightly hugging a pillow. I was busy saving an amusement park from supervillains. Just when I was about to deliver the final blow and save the damsel in distress, I was hit hard in my stomach, hard enough to make my world fall apart. "Ouch!" I woke up to see my friends circle around me with pillows in their hands. "What the…" Before I could complete, I received a plethora of blows, and I dug deeper into my blanket, hoping to fend off these attacks. The attacks subsided after a while. I slowly came out of the blanket, facing them. I saw Diya in front of me, armoured with two pillows. She came at me, delivering the finishing blow – Double pillow smash! I was KOed. I could feel stars circling above my head. The whole room erupted – "Happy birthday, idiot!" This should not be how you wish your loved ones a happy birthday. I sighed. People made way for Diya, she was c...

If I Had A Love Story - Chapter 22

Chapter 22   The cold breeze woke me up. I looked at my watch to find that it was 2 in the morning. Diya was sleeping on my shoulder with her hands tightly around my left arm. I realized that her jacket was draped over me. I carefully removed the jacket and draped her with it. She moved, holding my arm even tighter. Her serene face was lit by the rays of moonlight plummeting through the window. The wind blew through the window as strands of her silky hair kissed her face. She looked like a sleeping beauty who would be awakened from a charmed sleep by the kiss of a charming prince. The moon soon hid behind the clouds in shame. I smiled inadvertently. I spent the rest of the night watching her sleep. Diya woke me up saying that we had arrived at the Mysuru Palace. I had fallen asleep on her shoulders. She had her hair tied neatly into a pony tail. I was half asleep till the time she pulled my cheeks. We got off the bus and I yawned. By then, the sun had shown up but th...

If I Had A Love Story - Chapter 21

Chapter 21 The raindrops split apart as they hit the ground as the skies opened up. The warmth of her hand was spreading through my body. We had a wonderful time at the Harangi Dam. The water glistened, reflecting the cloudy blue sky. We were almost left behind at the dam as we stood at the top admiring the massive posh scenery surrounding us. It's strange how time quickly flies when you're with the person you love. We then set out for Mysore. The music was on and Diya went to dance with her friends. She was wearing a peach chudi with her hair tied into a pony tail. I turned down requests to dance (Not that I suck). Diya came up to me and offered me her hand. I stared at her blinking. "Let's dance" she said. "What?" I asked. "What? Were you expecting Aishwarya Rai?" She pulled me from the seat. Now everyone was calling out our names. “But I don't know to dance” I whispered. I turned back to see the coast cleared for us to ...

If I Had A Love Story - Chapter 20

Chapter 20 I woke up to the beep of my phone. I put on my glasses and there was a text message. "Good morning!♥" It read. I smiled. I opened it and replied "Great Morning!💙” I freshened up a bit and went out. The swimming pool bubbled with people clamouring and enjoying themselves. There were freestyle races and boomerangs being captured. I let out a big yawn even though the sun was shining straight at my face, slowly rising above the horizon. I wasn’t able to remember how long it had been since I dozed off. I went downstairs, there were people climbing to the top of a large sized swing that was probably out of order. The climate was chill and I got my blue sweater and my black headband on. I was enjoying the mild breeze and just then I received a call from Diya asking if I could meet her in the park. I didn't know where it was but agreed. I asked my friend where the park was and he gave me the directions. I found the park that was couple of blocks away from ...

If I Had A Love Story - Chapter 19

Chapter 19 I was sitting in the aisle of the second row in the bus. I got up and plunged myself forward through the doors and felt falling down into a deep abyss. Everything around me was dark. I was consumed by emptiness and felt as if my soul was sucked by a grim reaper. True things were supposed to last forever. I turned back to see Diya, she was wrapped inside a blanket. Her face was pale and the gracefulness in her face was gone. I hated seeing her like this but hated myself more for not being able to be by her side when she needed me. I wasn't thinking clearly, every moment I had spent with her came as a flash. It hurt me hours ago when she had said that she had no feelings for me. Now oddly I couldn't feel any pain. It was much worse. I felt numb and devoid of my emotions and feelings. Love is not something you can just throw away or goes away. It stays with you tormenting you now and then. Some tiny part of your heart will always belong to her, no matter how muc...

If I Had A Love Story - Chapter 18

Chapter 18 The jeep was moving at fast pace maneuvering over the bumpy terrains. We were screaming at the top of our voices but it didn’t carry far as it died against the roar of the engines. Diya was sitting next to me and I was trying to hold on tight to one of bars of the jeep to stabilize myself from jerking. Her hair was undone and flew with the wind. She was finding it hard to keep her balance as she kept trying to hang on to the seat. Sensing her uneasiness, I caught her and made her to sit near the corner as the jeep slowed for a while. She regained her composure and now was holding onto my hand tightly.  The scenery was so posh filled with greenery everywhere and glorious views of the hills. The chill air with mist dominated the atmosphere. I turn towards Diya to find her already looking at me. She turned her gaze aside as I looked at her. At last we reached the top. I lend her my hand as she got down. She was unusually quiet. She just shook her head when I aske...
